Is it appropriate?

This weekend we went to dinner with my mother in law and my brother in law. Both of these people are currently in AA, my brother in law celebrates his one year sober anniversary this coming friday
Neither myself or my husband wants to go, as we don't really believe in AA. Yes I know it works for some people, but their philosphy about alcoholism as a disease, as well as all the God talk, and the fact that everyone I have ever known who has done AA has replaced their addicition to whatever with an addicition to meetings just doesnt sit well with me. We also do not think it is a very appropriate place to bring a one year old child.
So when my mother in law asked if we were planning on going we had a readymade (and true) excuse in that the hubby has to work. She then asked if I was going to go, to which i made some non committal grunting sounds (I was told to hold my tongue and let the hubby deal with it). When the hubby said no and that we were going to drop the child off on saturday morning, she talked about how she was going to be home and she would love to have him during the day. The hubby responded that he didn't really want the babe in a meeting without him, and my mother in law said "he's already been to one."

I held my tongue but inside I was raging.
Am I insane or is AA not a place for young children?
Even if I really believed in AA I would not think it was appropriate to bring a young child to a meeting, and if i was watching someone else's kid I would make sure about how they feel before bringing their kid....
So am I insane for being upset?

hospital visit

this weekend we had an adventure on long island...
On friday morning me and the babe travelled out to the Hamptons to spend some time with my parents, not for Father's day or anything like that but because I still have no computer and NEED to get my school stuff done. Well we arrive and the babe was all giggly and playing with my dad- the playing consisted of my dad winding up a snowglobe for the babe to dance to over and over again.
Saturday morning after waking up at the ungodly hour of 5 am, me, the babe and my dad were down stairs watching each other watch t.v. The babe decided he wanted to play with my dad again and went into the other room. There was a crash of glass, a moment of silence and then a horrible cry of pain from my baby's mouth. He had cut his hand open on the snowglobe, which he dropped somehow. He ended up needing 4 stitches in his hand.
So we spent a perfectly lovely day (the only good one of the weekend) in the emergency room.

More updates:
I checked the scale and I actually weigh 132 lbs (3 lbs more than I weighed before the babe)

Updates

I still don't know how much I weigh, as I never got around to buying a scale. But when  I put on my Step Dancing dress I didn't have to suck anything in, in order for it to be zippered up. I am taking this as a good sign.

We made a decision about baby making. We have been actively trying to not get pregnant since the babe was born. It involved charts and multiple calendars and more work than anyone should ever put into trying to not get pregnant. Sure I could take the pill, but I have not found one that doesn't make my mental state go wonky; or I could try an IUD but what is the point of getting something inserted that we will just want removed in a year or so? So we've been naturally preventing another child. But now we are going to let whatever happens happen. We are no longer actively preventing another baby from happening, and if the speed at which we didn't try the first time is any indication I will be pregnant soon enough.

It was hotter than Jesus this past week, and the babe was a mess of sweat. So in the span of a he went from this lovely little surfer boy look to this:I can see my family a little more in this version, but the reality is that that is wishful thinking as he is still the exact copy of the hubby when he was little.

Blogging Sabbatical

Well the babe finally did it. He killed the computer.
While I work he likes to sit in my lap and pretend to type along with me, what I didn't know is that he also likes to bang on the top of the computer when it is closed. This banging as well as the constant drool shorted out something in our screen, so until we get it fixed there will be limited posts from me....
